White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council Releases Opportunity Zone Report

The White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council recently released its one-year report on Opportunity Zones, which details actions taken over the past 12 months as well as recommendations to further strengthen the Opportunity Zone program. Comprised of representatives from federal agencies and federal-state partnerships, the Council was established in December 2018 to make efficient use of Federal resources to promote economic revitalization in distressed communities and disseminate best practices.

For each of the five workstreams in which the Council has divided its work—Economic Development, Entrepreneurship, Safe Neighborhoods, Education and Workforce, and Measurement and Analysis—recommended action items are described in detail, including whether the relevant agency could implement the action on its own or if legislation would be needed.

Another report will be released this Spring outlining best practices identified in Opportunity Zones nationwide.
